Wherever you are in the world, it’s only a matter of time before someone starts chatting to you about football. Across every continent, football is a common language and a culture shared. Perhaps that is one reason why football is known as The Beautiful Game.

“Football is a beautiful game because it belongs to us all”

Arsène Wenger, OBE – Arsenal Manager

Once every four years, the world comes together for the greatest spectacle in world football, and so far it has not disappointed us. The teams competing in the 2014 FIFA World Cup are a great representation of the world’s diversity. The languages spoken by the 736 professional footballers from the 32 national teams taking part and the billions of supporters around the world differ. Nevertheless, there are still some major language parallels that bring this whole tournament together.

Whether you’re a die-hard supporter of your national team or just a casual observer, take a look at this infographic by Capita Translation and Interpreting, illustrating the languages of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
